Health group taking sleeping bags amid freezing Maine temps
Jan. 21, 2018
BANGOR, Maine (AP) — A Maine health advocacy non-profit group is holding a blanket and sleeping bag drive as temperatures dip well below freezing in the state.
Healthy Equity Alliance began the drive on Jan. 16 and is continuing it until Feb. 1. It's taking the items at its office on Pine Street in Bangor during normal business hours.
The group says items will be delivered to the needy on Feb. 2 in Pickering Square. It says it's collecting news and gently used items.
Health Equity Alliance provides services such as free HIV testing, education outreach and a syringe exchange program.
