Jul. 14, 2000
NEW YORK (AP) _ Chuck Knoblauch left the New York Yankees' game against the Florida Marlins in the seventh inning on Thursday night with a bruised left wrist after being hit by a line drive.
With no outs in the seventh, Preston Wils hit a line drive toward second base. Knoblauch jumped too high for the ball, which ricocheted off his left forearm and into center field for a single.
Knoblauch, who missed seven games earlier this season with soreness in his left forearm also bruised his left thumb on the play. X-rays were negative and Knoblauch was scheduled to undergo a CT scan on Friday. There was no immediate word on whether he would miss any time for this injury.
Knoblauch has had trouble in the field all year, making 15 errors in the first half of the season. He fielded his only two chances Thursday flawlessly.
