Tex. Rangers Promote Larry Hardy
Nov. 08, 2000
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) _ Larry Hardy was hired by the Texas Rangers on Tuesday as their pitching coach.
Hardy, the bullpen coach for the Rangers for the past six years, replaced Dick Bosman, let go after last season.
Hardy, a 31-year veteran of professional baseball, had stints as a player, a minor league coach and manager, scout, and major league coach. The 2001 season will be Hardy's 10th with the team.
``He has the respect of the pitchers on this staff and has worked well with them in the past,'' Rangers manager Johnny Oates said. ``Larry brings a great deal of experience to his new role.''
Hardy was a major league scout from 1992-94, and joined Oates' original coaching staff for the 1995 season.
