STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) _ Chuck Downey scored four touchdowns, all in the first half, as Stony Brook trounced Brooklyn 48-12 Saturday in college football.
Downey scored his first two touchdowns on punt returns of 62 and 60 yards. He then ran 2 yards for a score and caught a 5-yard TD pass from Lance Vernon.
Mike Licata rushed 12 times for 143 yards, including a 54-yard TD jaunt, for the Patriots, 2-3.
Jeff Mitchell, who connected on 16 of 40 passes for 288 yards, threw touchdown strikes of 3 yards to Paul Fadel and 43 yards to Marcus Polk for the Kingsmen, 1-6.
