Pistons' Dumars Pulls Hamstring
Nov. 01, 1997
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) _ Detroit guard Joe Dumars went down with a pulled left hamstring during the second quarter of the Pistons' opener against the Washington Wizards.
He left the game and wasn't expected to return.
Dumars drove into the lane in heavy traffic and rolled a reverse layup off the glass for a basket 52 seconds into the quarter. He was untouched, but his momentum carried Dumars to the right corner where crumpled to the floor in obvious pain. He pounded the floor in frustration.
After being helped to the bench, Dumars sat and watched the game for a few minutes before leaving with the team physician. Moments later, word came that Dumars had a pulled left hamstring.
