PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) _ Detroit quarterback Charlie Batch injured a finger on his throwing hand and had to leave the Lions game against the St. Louis Rams in the third quarter Sunday.

Batch was hurt during Detroit's first series of the second half, and was replaced by Gus Frerotte. Batch was 10-for-20 for 148 yards and a touchdown before the injury.

It was the second time Frerotte relieved Batch because of an injury this season. On Oct. 17, after Batch bruised his right arm against Minnesota, Frerotte led a late drive for a field goal that gave the Lions a 25-23 win.
