SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) _ Guard Larry Drew swiped a Houston inbounds pass with 11 seconds to go and hit a layup to help the Sacramento Kings ice a 122-116 victory over the Rockets in a National Basketball Association game Thursday night.
Sacramento led the Rockets until 1:23 left to play when Akeem Olajuwon connected on two free throws to put Houston on top, 114-113. Ten seconds later, Kings Eddie Johnson hit a 10-foot jumper to put Sacramento ahead.
It was the first victory of the regular season for 1-2 Kings and the franchise's first since moving to Sacramento from Kansas City.
Drew scored 14 points. His other 12 points came in the second quarter off fastbreaks to spark an 18-point Kings lead. Sacramento center LaSalle Thompson led all scorers with 37 points. Olajuwon topped Houston scorers at 30 points.
Houston relied on a 13-point performance by guard Lewis Lloyd during a two- minute period in the third quarter to whittle away at the Kings' lead and pull Houston to within eight points at the start of the final quarter.
