SHANGHAI, China (AP) _ Flooding and landslides have killed six people and washed away roads in the southern Chinese province of Guangxi, a state newspaper reported today.

The report by the Shanghai News raised to at least 335 the number of deaths disclosed by official Chinese media this year in annual summer flooding.

The devastation occurred July 19-20 in Rongshui County in Guangxi, the Shanghai News said. The province is mountainous, poor and largely rural. The News said the flood area is populated by China's Miao ethnic minority.

The report said torrential rains caused rivers to overflow and set off landslides, but did not give any details about the deaths or damage.
