Military Says 113 Killed In Past Week

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador (AP) _ The military press office said Monday that 113 soldiers, guerrillas and civilians were killed in the past week, including 101 troopers and rebels slain in an attack on the San Miguel army garrison.
The communique also said 114 people were wounded in the fighting, but gave no further details except for the San Miguel battle.
It said in that pre-dawn attack Thursday on the garrison 86 miles east of San Salvador, 54 soldiers and 47 guerrillas were killed. It was one of the left-wing rebels' largest attacks in the 6 1/2 -year-long war against the U.S.-backed government.
A military report after the attack had said 19 soldiers were killed.
