Tigers Add Six Players From Class AAA

CHICAGO (AP) _ The Detroit Tigers have called up six players from Class AAA Toledo, including pitchers Brian Williams and C.J. Nitkowski.
Outfielder Shannon Penn, third baseman Phil Hiatt, catcher Raul Casanova and infielder Fausto Cruz also will join the Tigers in time for Tuesday's game against the Chicago White Sox.
Casanova, Cruz, Nitkowski and Williams all have spent time with the Tigers this season. Hiatt and Penn last appeared in the majors in 1995 when Hiatt played for Kansas City and Penn with the Tigers.
Williams, who began the season as the Tigers closer but moved into the starting rotation after 15 relief appearances, was 1-1 with a 4.91 ERA for Toledo. With Detroit, he was 3-10 with a 6.93 ERA.
Nitkowski started seven games for the Tigers, going 2-3 with an 8.57 ERA, then went on the disabled list with a back strain. He was 4-6 at Toledo with a 4.46 ERA.
Casanova hit .268 at Toledo, while Cruz batted .250 with 12 home runs. Hiatt hit .260 at Toledo with 41 home runs and 118 RBIs and Penn hit .290 with six home runs and 42 RBIs.
