Kidnapping Suspect to Go to Britain

BERLIN (AP) _ A 32-year-old U.S. man accused of abducting a British schoolgirl will be extradited to Britain this week, a prosecutor said Tuesday.
British authorities are expected to pick up Toby Studabaker at Frankfurt airport Thursday and escort him back to face trial, Frankfurt prosecutor Gernot Broschat told The Associated Press by telephone.
Studabaker has been in a prison near Frankfurt since police arrested him in the German city July 16 _ four days after he ran away to Paris with the 12-year-old girl.
Studabaker did not fight his extradition when he appeared before a Frankfurt court after his arrest.
He also told the court he did not have sex with the girl, whom he met in an Internet chat room. Studabaker, a former U.S. Marine, maintained he thought the girl was 18, but did not comment further.
