SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ Sam Cassell scored five points during a pivotal 10-1 run late in the fourth period as the Houston Rockets claimed a 110-107 victory over the San Antonio Spurs in an NBA preseason game Tuesday night.
Cassell, who scored 33 points, started the run with a three-point play and finished with a spinning jumper. He hit 16 of 17 foul shots in the first meeting between the teams since the Western Conference finals.
Mark Bryant scored 19 points and Chucky Brown added 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Rockets. Avery Johnson led San Antonio with 17 points and Chuck Person added 15.
The Spurs played most of the second half without David Robinson, who was ejected for the second time in his six-year professional career with 8:19 left in the third period.
Robinson was incensed when replacement referee Pat Adams failed to call a foul. When Adams said something to the All-Star center, Robinson angrily charged at the official.
Replacement officials are working exhibition games while the NBA's regular referees remain locked out in a contract dispute.
Robinson scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Spurs.
Houston played without Hakeem Olajuwon, who missed his sixth straight preseason game after undergoing surgery on his left elbow Oct. 10. Also, Rockets guard Clyde Drexler did not dress out after playing extended minutes in the McDonald's Championship in London over the weekend.
