LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) _ A 20-year-old resident of an apartment complex where three people died in a fire last week was charged Tuesday with setting the blaze.

Jason Allen Rose was scheduled to be arraigned on first-degree murder and aggravated arson charges, police said. They would not discuss a motive, or say if there were other suspects.

The Friday fire caused an estimated $2.1 million in damage at Boardwalk Apartments, not counting vehicles or contents. It also displaced 87 residents and injured about 20 people.

The bodies of the victims were found Sunday in various locations in the three-story, block-long building in the complex, officials said.

More than a third of those losing homes are University of Kansas students, but the school said Tuesday that Rose never was enrolled there.

Investigators identified two of those killed in the fire as Nicole M. Bingham, a 21-year-old university student from Wichita, and Yolanda Riddle, a state social worker.
