NEW YORK (AP) _ The Philadelphia Phillies activated relief pitcher Rheal Cormier from the 15-day disabled list Wednesday.

Cormier was 5-6 with a 4.15 ERA in 49 games this season before going on the DL with tendinitis in his left elbow on Aug. 10.

The left-hander had a scoreless streak of 12 2-3 innings from June 21-July 16 _ 11 games. He then went 0-5 during a 5 2-3 inning span from July 17-Aug. 9, surrendering 10 runs, including three walk-off homers.

To make room for Cormier, the Phillies optioned LHP Eddie Oropesa to Class-A Clearwater. He will return to the Phillies after Clearwater's season ends after Sept. 2.
