Fox Launching Health TV Network
May. 27, 1999
NEW YORK (AP) _ Fox Entertainment Group Inc. will launch The Health Network in mid-July.
The Health Network will launch on cable and the Internet with 17 million cable and satellite subscribers in all 50 states, Fox said Thursday.
The Health Network is a new media company that will provide health information to consumers, physicians and hospitals through a cable television and the Internet.
The network is a joint venture between Fox Liberty Ventures and AHN Ltd. Partners, which was created by the merger of AHN's cable-TV network, America's Health Network; its Web site, AHN.com; and Fox's fit tv earlier this year.
AHN is controlled by health-care industry entrepreneurs Rick Scott and David Vandewater. Scott was chief executive officer of Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp, the nation's biggest hospital chain, until he quit amid a federal Medicare fraud investigation in 1997.
Fox Entertainment Group develops and produces worldwide distribution of feature films and television programs, television broadcasting and cable network programming.
