IMPERIAL, Calif. (AP) _ Former IBF champion Jorge Paez knocked out fellow Mexican Jose Ocampo in the second round of a scheduled 10-round welterweight bout at the Imperial Inn Hotel Saturday night.

Paez knocked down Ocampo twice in the second, sending Ocampo to a nine count the first time. Referee Raul Caiz counted out Ocampo at 2:37 of the round.

Paez, 34, who held an Intercontinental Boxing Federation title in 1990, weighed in at 147 1/2 pounds and improved his record to 63-11-4 with 42 knockouts.

Ocampo, who weighed in at 145 1/2, is 15-7 with 12 knockouts.
