Bickerstaff's Son Arrested in Armed Robbery Case
Mar. 15, 1996
GREELEY, Colo. (AP) _ Bernard Bickerstaff Jr., son of Denver Nuggets coach and president Bernie Bickerstaff, was arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a south Greeley motel, Greeley police said Thursday.
The younger Bickerstaff, a former student at Northern Colorado, was being held for investigation of aggravated robbery, police Sgt. John Gates said.
The junior Bickerstaff was a freshman member of the Northern Colorado basketball team last season. He is not enrolled this semester.
Gates said Bickerstaff was arrested after a second suspect in the case was picked up in La Junta. Michael McKnight was held on an arrest warrant issued by Greeley police.
Police said the two men are suspects in an early morning robbery March 6 in which one of the men held a knife while robbing a night clerk.
Gates said the amount taken was ``fairly small'' and there were no injuries.
