CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ Lance Hoeltke set a school record with 326 yards passing, including three touchdown passes, and ran for another TD to lift Austin Peay over Western Kentucky 38-34 Saturday night.
Hoeltke hit Jesse Smith with a 37-yard pass in the second quarter and ran one in for 11 yards with less than three minutes before the half to cut into a 21-14 Western Kentucky lead.
Hoeltke came right back in the third with a 59-yard scoring pass to Charles Hall. David Young added an 18-yard field goal at the 5:12 mark to give Austin Peay a 24-21 lead.
With 6:42 to go in the fourth, Hoeltke and Smith hooked up again on a 2-yard pass to move Austin Peay ahead 31-21.
But at the 5:33 mark, Willie Taggart connected with Joey Stockton on a 57-yard scoring pass and Antwan Floyd ran in from 14 yards to put Western Kentucky back on top.
Jacob Dickson, however, scored on a 3-yard run with a 1:17 left to give Austin Peay the victory.
