ATLANTA (AP) — Police say a man was wounded when a gunman opened fire aboard a commuter train in Atlanta.
Authorities say the shooting happened Saturday night on a Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority train near the King Memorial station on Decatur Street. The station near the eastern edge of downtown is on the green and blue lines, the MARTA train system's east-west routes.
Authorities say the victim was taken to Grady Memorial hospital. MARTA officials tell WXIA-TV that the wounded person was alert and responsive when emergency crews arrived. There were no reports of any other passengers being hurt.
Police tell WSB-TV that no immediate arrests were made.
MARTA officials said the train was taken out of service after the shooting.
