TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ Roy Lassiter scored early in the second half and became the first Major League Soccer player to score 200 points as the Kansas City Wizards beat the Tampa Bay Mutiny 2-1 on Saturday night.
Lassiter, who scored a franchise-leading 37 goals with Tampa Bay in 1996-97, snapped a 1-all tie with a shot from 10 yards in the 52nd minute.
The goal was Lassiter's second of the season and the 83rd of his career. He has 117 career assists.
Francisco Garcia also scored for the Wizards, who extended their unbeaten streak against Tampa Bay to eight games (7-0-1).
Steve Trittschuh scored for Tampa Bay, which is winless in seven games (0-6-1).
Mutiny forward Mamadou Diallo and midfielder Carlos Valderrama, who have a combined seven goals and eight assists, missed the game due to league-imposed suspensions.
Trittschuh, who had missed Tampa Bay's first nine games with a broken right leg, made it 1-0 on a header in the 11th minute. The Mutiny had not scored a goal other than on a penalty kick in its previous 291 minutes.
Gomez tied the game in the 20th minute.
After Lassiter made it 2-1, Tampa Bay's Eric Quill hit the post with a shot in the 72nd minute.
