NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Below is a look at shootings that have occurred inside movie theaters across the country in the past decade:
— Aug. 5, 2015: A man armed with a hatchet and gun unleashes pepper spray at moviegoers in the Nashville area before being shot dead by a SWAT team as he tried to escape out a back door.
— July 23, 2015: John Russell Houser, 59, shoots and kills two people and wounds nine others in Lafayette, Louisiana.
— January 2014: A former Tampa police captain fatally shoots a man during an argument over texting in a movie theater in Land O'Lakes, Florida.
— July 2012: James Holmes kills 12 people and tries to kill 70 others during a midnight showing of Batman in suburban Denver.
— January 2010: At least one person is wounded in a shooting in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
— October 2009: An Indiana National Guardsman kills himself inside a movie theater.
— December 2008: An Iraq war veteran in Philadelphia shoots a noisy moviegoer in the arm.
— June 2006: A man is fatally shot in theater in Owings Mills, Maryland.
