TAMPA Fla. (AP) _ Steve Heinze scored twice and back-up goaltender Rob Tallas stopped 24 shots as the Boston Buins ended a four-game winless skid with a 3-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning Saturday.

Center Dimitri Khristich contributed three assists, helping the Bruins snap Tampa Bay's franchise-tying, eight-game home undefeated streak. That gave Khristich eight points _ four goals and four assists _ in the last four games.

Tampa took the early lead on Rob Zamuner's 12th goal of the season at 6:13 of the first period. Zamuner converted a two-handed swipe pass by Daymond Langkow, who was laying prone behind the Bruins net.

With Daren Puppa forced out of the game after one period because of back spasms, Corey Schwab took over in the nets for Tampa Bay and gave up two quick goals.

Jason Allison deflected a power play shot off Schwab at 53 seconds of the second period and then Heinze connected from the right circle on a breakaway that trickled between Schwab's pads at 4:42.

Heinze's second goal came on a backhander with 5:36 gone in the third period.

Tallas (2-0-1), was making just his third NHL appearance this season. for Boston which played without leading goal-scorer Ted Donato, who was serving the second game of his league-imposed three-game suspension following a Dec. 20 match penalty.

Joe Thornton, the No. 1 pick in the 1997 amateur draft, sat out his sixth game with cellulitis in his left ankle. The Boston center is listed as day-to-day.
