CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Torin Dorn scored 14 points and Charlotte erased a halftime deficit and beat Appalachian State 75-65 on Thursday.
Appalachian State scored the first 10 points and the last six points of the first half and took a 32-27 at intermission.
Charlotte hit 4 of its first 6 shots of the second — including 3-pointers by Braxton Ogbueze and Terrence Williams — to tie at 37. An 11-4 run midway through the frame gave the 49ers a five-point lead and while the Mountaineers got it to two points on two occasions, they never got over the hump.
A pair of 3-pointers from Keyshawn Woods (12 points) on consecutive possessions gave Charlotte an eight point lead with 6:40 left. Ogbueze finished with 13 and Willie Clayton added 12.
Frank Eaves paced Appalachian State with 20 points, despite shooting 4 of 11 from the floor. He was 11 of 13 from the line.
