DEERFIELD VALLEY, Vt. (AP) — Members of a Vermont ski club have voted to pay higher annual dues in order to bring their private ski resort back to life.

Hermitage Club President Harper Sibley says members voted 209-165, with 151 not voting. The Brattleboro Reformer reports projections indicate more than 400 members will need to pay dues that will increase to $15,000 in order for the project to work.

Hermitage officials have been trying to restructure ever since its private ski resort in Deerfield Valley and multiple other properties were foreclosed on by the mortgage holder. A number of other properties were also closed by the state for failure to make tax payments.

There is a hearing scheduled for Oct. 25 in Windham Superior Court to discuss property reports.
