ABERDEEN, Idaho (AP) — An eastern Idaho man authorities say shot and killed his wife has been charged with first-degree murder.

Sixty-three-year-old Eugene Ruff of Aberdeen was charged Friday in Bingham County District Court.

Authorities say that police responded at about 10 p.m. Thursday to Ruff's home in Aberdeen where they found 62-year-old Bettilee Ruff dead.

Prosecutors on Friday said Ruff shot his wife in the torso.

Ruff was being held on $1 million bail. It's not clear from online court records if Ruff has an attorney.
