Police close probe into sexual assault accusations at school
Dec. 21, 2017
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (AP) — A criminal investigation into whether a boy was repeatedly sexually assaulted at a Tennessee private school during the 2014-15 school year has been closed.
Brentwood police said in a news release Wednesday that the Child Protective Investigative Team concluded that no criminal charges will be pursued. Authorities found no criminal wrongdoing on the part of Brentwood Academy staff.
The Tennessean reports the investigation is related to accusations raised in a lawsuit, which was filed by the boy and his mother, who were identified in the lawsuit as John and Jane Doe. They say the then 12-year-old boy was repeatedly assaulted in a locker room by older students.
A judge dismissed the civil lawsuit after the Does tried to withdraw their case. Their attorneys are expected to appeal the judge's decision.
