MINNEAPOLIS (AP) _ Hoping to put off surgery until the summer, the Minnesota Timberwolves will send injured forward Tom Gugliotta to see more specialists this week.

Gugliotta, the team's leading scorer with a 20.1 average, has missed the last six games with bone chips and spurs in his right ankle.

The injury will require surgery at some point, but the Wolves hope that with therapy and treatment, Gugliotta can play out the season and playoffs. At 28-21, Minnesota is having the best season in franchise history.
