ZURICH, Switzerland (AP) _ Swiss-Swedish electrical engineering group Asea Brown Boveri said Thursday it has received $160 million in contracts to build a power plant in Canada and maintain the site.

ABB will build a 250-megawatt gas-fired combined-cycle cogeneration power plant at the Campbell River in British Columbia and also maintain the site for 12 years, the group said in a statement.

Both contracts are with the Island Cogeneration Project Inc. of Vancouver, owned by Fletcher Challenge Energy Inc., a division of Fletcher Challenge Ltd. of Auckland, and Westcoast Power Inc., a subsidiary of Vancouver-based Westcoast Energy Inc.

The ABB group reported sales of about $35 billion last year and has some 216,000 employees worldwide. Sales for its global power generation division totaled more than $10 billion.
