1 dead, 1 injured in Mississippi double shooting

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Police in Mississippi's capital city are investigating a double shooting that killed one person and injured another.
Jackson police Commander Tyree Jones tells local media the shooting happened sometime after 10 p.m. Monday near the Farish Street Historic District. A 58-year-old man was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center where he is reported to be in critical condition.
Jones says 26-year-old Demonte West was killed by a gunshot wound to the head. He says the shooter may have fled in a gold Chrysler 300 or green Ford Expedition.
Further details haven't been released. The case remains under investigation.
West's death marks Jackson's 31st homicide of 2017.
