NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Police at a New Jersey airport say they've taken an Israeli man into custody after they found a suspicious device during his screening.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police say they took the Israeli citizen into custody Tuesday morning, temporarily closing the third floor of Terminal C at Newark Liberty International Airport.

Authorities say the item was found during a screening, and the unidentified man told police the device was related to a police training seminar he was attending in Panama City, Florida. The man had just arrived in Newark from Tel Aviv, Israel.

The Essex County bomb squad has seized the device. Port Authority spokesman Scott Ladd says he doesn't know if the man will be charged with anything.
