Highlights from Thursday's impeachment trial in the Senate against President Clinton.
_President Clinton's private attorney, David Kendall, finished the defense's factual presentation refuting the allegation that Clinton obstructed justice. He asked the Senate to ``give this case, and give this country, the constitutional stability and the political sanity which this country deserves.''
_Former Sen. Dale Bumpers, D-Ark., a friend of Clinton who retired from the Senate just three weeks ago, made the closing argument in the president's defense. He told senators they had an ``awesome responsibility'' and that the American people have been ``asking for an end to this nightmare.''
_President Clinton spent much of the day touting the education proposals he made in his State of The Union address Tuesday.
_House managers and Clinton's lawyers prepared for the beginning of Senate questioning Friday at 1 p.m. EST.
