WHY ARETHA FRANKLIN WILL BE BURIED WEARING RED
DETROIT (AP) — Aretha Franklin's niece says there's a lot of symbolism in how Franklin is presented for her public viewing. Sabrina Owens says Franklin was dressed in red as a nod to her membership in the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She says Franklin's dress looks like something Franklin would have worn on stage. She says Franklin is surrounded by hundreds of roses because of her love for that flower and because she sent floral arrangements "in grand fashion." Franklin is wearing red high heels with her feet crossed at the ankles. The public viewing for Franklin continues today in Detroit. Her funeral is Friday.
