Yagli Wins Baruch Race at Saratoga

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) _ Jerry Bailey rallied Yagli on the far turn and he circled the field for a 2 1/2-length victory in the $142,000 Bernard Baruch Handicap on Friday at Saratoga.
Yagli, assigned 121 pounds, covered 1 1/8 miles of turf in 1:46 1-5 in finishing ahead of Tamhid, one of the outsiders in the field of nine horses aged 3 and up. It was another three lengths to Jambalaya Jazz.
Yagli's fourth victory in six starts this year, earned $85,380 for Alan E. Paulson. The victory was also Yagli's third for added money this year following scores in the Hialeah Turf Cup and the Dixie Handicap at Pimlico.
The winner returned $5.80, $4 and $3.10. Tamhid paid $14.20 and $7.30 and Jambalaya Jazz was worth $4.30.
