Possible Explosion in London

LONDON (AP) _ Firefighters reported a possible explosion Wednesday near the Victoria area of central London, not far from the headquarters of the MI6 intelligence service.
There was no immediate word on casualties or damage.
A London Fire Brigade spokesman who said crews were called to the Vauxhall Cross area at 9:25 p.m., and that they were dealing with an incident believed to be an explosion. The fire brigade would give no further details.
Police said there had been an explosion close to the MI6 building, BBC News 24 reported.
The explosion reportedly took place near the building, close to Vauxhall Bridge, which crosses the Thames River not far from the Houses of Parliament.
A witness, Andrew Preece, told BBC News 24 he was driving home when he saw a flash of light coming from the top of the MI6 building.
