Austin-area officer directly traffic hit, seriously hurt

ROUND ROCK, Texas (AP) — A suburban Austin police officer has been struck and seriously injured while directing traffic at the scene of a fatality.
Police in Round Rock, north of Austin, say they were summoned Sunday morning to a crash along Interstate 35 and found a body in the roadway.
They say the officer was hit by a vehicle while directing traffic during an investigation of the fatality.
Authorities say the driver who struck the officer is being held.
The name of the injured officer hasn't been immediately released.
