BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) _ Illinois Wesleyan guard Matt Arnold was suspended eight games by the NCAA for taking a trip that violated association regulations.

School officials contacted the NCAA after an internal investigation revealed the infraction, athletic director Dennie Bridges said Monday.

``We have cooperated fully with the NCAA on this matter and were proactive in our self-reporting,'' Bridges said.

Arnold, a senior, played in all the Titans' games last season, averaging 5.1 points and 1.4 rebounds. He scored six points in a Nov. 3 exhibition game against the University of Illinois.

``It's unfortunate what happened. But I'm thankful I get to practice and stay in shape,'' said Arnold, who declined Monday to discuss his suspension.
