DORDRECHT, Netherlands (AP) _ Gijs van Aardenne, a former Dutch economic affairs minister once accused of withholding information from parliament, died Thursday. He was 65.

Van Aardenne, a member of the senate, served as economic affairs minister from 1977 to 1981 and from 1982 until 1986. During his second term, he was also deputy prime minister.

He was accused of concealing information during a 1984 parliamentary investigation into the financial collapse of a government-subsidized shipyard, but retained his post.
