Man convicted of killing wife by stabbing her 82 times

LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania man has been convicted of killing his wife by stabbing her 82 times weeks after she appeared on a talk show to determine whether he was the father of her twins.
President Judge Dennis Reinaker says in his Thursday ruling on the first-degree murder charge that "it's hard to imagine a scenario more gruesome or chilling" than Carrington Joseph's 2014 killing of Melissa Joseph.
Melissa Joseph was killed weeks after appearing on the talk show, where it was determined the infant twins were his. After the attack, police found the twins covered in blood but uninjured. Prosecutors say Carrington Joseph used three knives.
The judge says his argument of self-defense was "simply absurd." The prosecutor called it offensive and baseless.
The Lancaster resident will be sentenced later Thursday.
