Group pushes Portsmouth to consider ferry to Cape Cod

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) — Residents in New Hampshire are pushing officials to consider running a ferry between Portsmouth and Cape Cod.
New Hampshire Public Radio reports (http://bit.ly/1I8dv31 ) residents who are part of Promote Our Port made their case at city hall to elected officials and staffers.
Bob Hassold, who's pushing the Portsmouth-to-Provincetown ferry idea, says it would take less than three hours to travel to Provincetown. Hassold says businesses on Cape Cod have indicated interest in receiving supplies from a ferry's cargo hold.
An effort to bring a similar ferry service between the locations was nearly completed in 2001, but never came to fruition.
Portsmouth will host the Provincetown harbormaster, city manager and a representative from the town's chamber of commerce in October.
