SANFORD, N.C. (AP) _ A nursing home employee has been accused of assaulting three residents, allegedly placing feces in the mouth of one patient.
Kaye Bradford Stafford, 29, was held in lieu of $25,000 bail on three counts of assault on a handicapped person at the Convalescent Center of Lee County. She was charged last week.
The home also faces a $4,000 fine for violations uncovered during an unrelated state inspection in October, according to state records.
Stafford is accused of slapping one man in the face and placing feces and shaving cream in his mouth, and of slapping two women in the face, according to arrest warrants.
``That is extremely troubling to us,'' said Steve White, with the licensing section of the state Division of Facility Services.
Bonnie Moore, the nursing home's administrator, said Tuesday the home followed all procedures in notifying local and state authorities about the allegations. She said she couldn't comment further because of the investigation.
