Petrova Defeats Peer at Generali Ladies

LINZ, Austria (AP) _ Defending champion Nadia Petrova cruised past Shahar Peer of Israel 6-1, 6-1 Wednesday in the second round of the Generali Ladies.
The second-seeded Russian had seven aces and didn't allow a break point. She broke Peer five times.
Qualifier Eleni Daniilidou beat Chanda Rubin 6-1, 6-2 to set up a match against top-seeded Maria Sharapova.
Nicole Vaidisova advanced after beating Mara Santangelo of Italy 7-6 (4), 6-0. The 17-year-old Vaidisova failed to convert seven break points and needed four set points in the tiebreaker to win the first set, but quickly clinched the second after dropping only nine points.
Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia, who reached the final at the Zurich Open on Sunday, withdrew with a rib injury while trailing qualifier Elena Vesnina 4-3 in the first set.
Ana Ivanovic defeated Michaella Krajicek 6-1, 7-6 (2). After an easy first set, Ivanovic led 3-1 before the 17-year-old Krajicek broke twice. The Dutchwoman then had four match points while serving at 6-5, but needed a tiebreaker to win.
Ivanovic will play qualifier Agnieszka Radwanska.
