EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) _ Manchester United and Juventus of Turin probably will play an exhibition soccer game at Giants Stadium this summer.

``We're working on it,'' New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority chief executive George Zoffinger said. ``We're close. We expect a formal announcement next month.''

Manchester United and Juventus are to play July 30 or 31, Zoffinger told The Record of Bergen County. The clubs have been drawn into the same second-round group of the European Champions Cup and will meet Feb. 19 in England and Feb. 25 in Italy.

Zoffinger hopes to have the national teams of Argentina, England, the Netherlands, Italy and Ecuador at Giants Stadium, along with Spain's Barcelona club.

A potential game between the United States and World Cup champion Brazil may come down to money, Zoffinger said.
