Lakers' O'Neal Sits Out Game
Jan. 28, 2001
NEW YORK (AP) _ Shaquille O'Neal sat out the Los Angeles Lakers' game against the New York Knicks Sunday because of a sore right foot.
It was the third missed game of the season for O'Neal, last season's MVP. Greg Foster started in his place.
The Knicks also were without their starting center as Marcus Camby sat out the final game of a five-game suspension for throwing a punch at San Antonio's Danny Ferry.
Camby's backup, Kurt Thomas, also sat out with a sprained ankle. Luc Longley started for the Knicks.
O'Neal missed a game at Denver Nov. 18 because of a sprained left ankle and a Dec. 15 game at Vancouver when he attended his college graduation ceremony at LSU.
The arch of O'Neal's right foot has been bothering him since Friday. There was no immediate word on his status for games at Cleveland Tuesday and at Minnesota Wednesday.
