Penn St. QB in Accident in Orlando
Jan. 02, 1998
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) _ Penn State quarterback Mike McQueary was sideswiped while driving on an interstate here but was uninjured.
McQueary was in Orlando for the Citrus Bowl, which Penn State lost to Florida, 21-6, on New Year's Day.
He was driving a Jeep wagon on Interstate 4 around 2:30 p.m. Friday when he was hit by pickup truck towing a camper, according to Lt. Chuck Williams of the Florida Highway Patrol.
``Traffic being what it is here came to an abrupt stop and the pickup truck towing camper couldn't stop in time and sideswiped the Jeep wagon,'' Williams said.
There was about $1,200 total damage and McQueary was able to drive his vehicle away from the accident. The truck had to be towed.
The driver of the truck, Timothy Parker of Orlando, was ticketed with careless driving.
