BERLIN (AP) _ Spanish filmaker Pedro Almodovar won the European Film Prize for ``Everything about my Mother'' and top directing honors Saturday at the European Film Awards.
The 48-year-old had already been chosen top European director earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival in France.
``Everything about my Mother'' is the story of a single woman who experiences the tragic death of her son and goes on a search for his father.
Other award winners Saturday: best male actor went to Ralph Fiennes for the Hungarian drama ``Sunshine,'' which also got top honors for best screenplay for Istvan Szabo and Israel Horowitz.
German director Wim Wenders won best documentary for ``Buena Vista Social Club.'' Best non-European film award went to David Lynch for ``The Straight Story.''
