PARIS (AP) — Rafael Nadal has won 37 completed sets in a row at the French Open heading into his quarterfinal against Diego Schwartzman. Top-ranked Nadal enters the match bidding to reach his 11th semifinal at Roland Garros. The 11th-seeded Schwartzman has never made it to the final four at any Grand Slam tournament. Two past U.S. Open champions meet in the other men's quarterfinal: No. 3 Marin Cilic against No. 5 Juan Martin del Potro.
PARIS (AP) — Two women who have won the title at Roland Garros, Maria Sharapova and Garbine Muguruza, play each other in the French Open quarterfinals. Sharapova was the French Open champion in 2012 and 2014; Muguruza took the trophy in 2016. In the other women's quarterfinal, No. 1 Simona Halep takes on former No. 1 Angelique Kerber in a rematch of their epic Australian Open semifinal in January. Halep saved two match points to win that one.
CLEVELAND (AP) — For LeBron James, losing is no longer an option. With Cleveland down 2-0 to Golden State in the NBA Finals, James knows better than anyone that he and the Cavaliers are facing a must-win situation in Game 3 tonight at home. No team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a playoff series.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Shohei Ohtani makes his ninth major league start as the Angels host Kansas City. Back on his usual once-a-week pitching schedule, the two-way rookie phenom from Japan is 4-1 with a 3.18 ERA. Los Angeles gave him extra rest before his most recent outing in Detroit.
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Bartolo Colon gets his fourth crack at tying Hall of Famer Juan Marichal's 243 career wins, most for a pitcher born in the Dominican Republic, when the Texas Rangers host Oakland. The 45-year-old right-hander earned win No. 242 on May 16 when he threw 7 2/3 scoreless innings at Seattle. He is 0-2 with an 8.80 ERA over his last three starts.
