Retrial of man suspected in wife's death set for February
Aug. 18, 2017
GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) — The retrial of a man accused of killing his wife in Mesa County in 2001 is scheduled for February.
The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reports (http://bit.ly/2uQ2MAj ) Michael Blagg's trial will start Feb. 20 in Golden. A judge moved the trial there amid concerns it would be difficult to find an impartial jury in Mesa County.
Blagg was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison in 2004 in the shooting death of Jennifer Blagg, whose body was found in a landfill. The couple's daughter, Abby, disappeared when Jennifer Blagg was killed but her body has never been found.
Michael Blagg's conviction was overturned in 2014 after the judge learned a juror concealed her experience with domestic violence in order to serve on the jury.
Blagg pleaded not guilty Thursday.
