WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) _ The body of a Texas man who apparently fell to his death while hiking in New Zealand was recovered from a mountain stream on Wednesday.
Michael Dishnow, 20, was found in a stream at the top of the Arahura River in Arthur's Pass National Park, located in the central part of New Zealand's South Island, police Sergeant Mark Berryman said.
Berryman said Dishnow is believed to have plunged from a ridge overlooking the steep crevasse through which the narrow stream runs. Police did not say where in Texas the hiker was from.
An air force helicopter was used to recover the body, which was to be autopsied on Thursday.
