Feb. 20, 2018
BOSTON (AP) — A 49-year-old Waltham man has been arrested on drug and alcohol charges after police say they found he was carrying too much malt liquor in his minivan.
Edwin Loyola-Del Valle faces arraignment Tuesday in Dorchester District Court on charges of unlawfully transporting alcohol and possession of cocaine.
Police tell the Boston Herald that Loyola Del Valle was pulled over in Boston Monday for a motor vehicle violation.
They say officers found more than 30 gallons of malt liquor and nine gallons of other alcohol in the back of his Toyota Sienna. State law permits the transport of up to 20 gallons of malt liquor without a license.
Police say they also found a bag containing what they believe to be cocaine.
It wasn't immediately clear if Loyola-Del Valle has hired an attorney.
