El Corredor Wins Cigar Mile

NEW YORK (AP) _ El Corredor beat a strong field in the $500,000 Cigar Mile at Aqueduct Saturday, finishing 1 3/4 lengths ahead of longshot Peeping Tom.
The 3-year-old colt took the lead in the stretch after stalking the leaders through the first six furlongs. With Jerry Bailey and 116 pounds, El Corredor was timed in 1:34 3-5.
Affirmed Success finished third, a neck behind Peeping Tom.
In his previous start Sept. 23, El Corredor was second in the Jerome Handicap at Belmont Park, a neck behind Fusaichi Pegasus.
With the victory, his fourth in five career starts, El Corredor earned $300,000 for Hal Earnhardt.
El Corredor returned $6.80, $4.50 and $3.40. Peeping Tom paid $22.40 and $8.40 and Affirmed Success was $3.30 to show.
Two Item Limit and Windsor Castle took the $200,000 co-features.
Two Item Limit came from off the pace and carried high weight of 122 pounds and Richard Migliore to a seven-length victory in the Demoiselle for 2-year-old fillies.
Two Item Limit covered 1 1-8 miles in 1:52 1-5 and earned $120,000 for Joseph Graffeo with her fourth win in nine starts this year. Sweep Dreams was second in the field of eight, a neck ahead of Kingsland. Two Item Limit returned $7 to win.
Windsor Castle closed strongly in carrying 116 pounds and Robbie Davis to a 2 1/2-length victory in the Remsen.
Ommadon was runner-up in the field of eight, two lengths ahead of Buckle Down Ben.
Windsor Castle went 1 1-8 miles in 1:51 4-5 and earned $120,000 for owner-trainer Frank Alexander with his third win in seven starts this year.
Windsor Castle returned $16 to win.
